Plastic Toys Appear Cheaper
Do you buy plastic toys because they’re cheaper? How long do they last? Everybody loves the traditional wooden toys so they tend to stay in the family longer and are more meaningful when passed down between generations. That’s what we mean by Timeless Toys at petit bazaar – the ones that last a lifetime, or two…..
Plastic Toys Seem More Interactive
Plastic toys are bright, brash and often to a mum’s dismay very noisy! But if you’ve visited Bebegarten, Spring or any of the latest educational powerhouses all the toys are wooden and neutral. This encourages imagination whilst playing and creates fertile minds. Plastic and electronic toys typically direct rather than inspire creativity.
Wooden Toys Are Made to Last and well designed.
Wood is a tactile material that appeals to a childs senses. I can still remember the way my wooden building blocks smelt, wooden toys tend to offer greater stimulus naturally to a childr’s senses. Wood is also more durable and sturdy, better able to withstand rough play. The designs of wooden toys tend to be larger and less easily swallowed and they won’t every shatter or break into little pieces.
Wooden Toys Are Safer for your baby
Harmful chemicals found in some plastics aren’t in wood, and since it’s an organic materials, its decorated in non -toxic paints and finishes these days. Finished with smooth safe edges, if your child puts a wooden toy in their mouth you will not need to worry about the possibility they may be sucking on toys that may contain harmful chemicals.
Plastic Affects The Environment
How long does a plastic toy last before it ends up in landfill? Taking years to break down and affecting our environment.
There’s nothing wrong with having a healthy mix of plastic toys and wooden ones in your home, we all know that there’s a Buzz Lightyear that kids crave, but wooden toys not only seem to be safer, better and more engaging for your child’s mind, they also look great in your home!
