Special Guest at Petit Bazaar : celebrity mom and famous yoga instructor Margaret Chung
Petit bazaar had the pleasure and the privilege to welcome Margaret Chung, celebrity mom and famous yoga instructor. Margaret came to Petit bazaar to talk about her involvement with children with special needs and the program called “Art in Your Life,” a combo of yoga and art therapy.
Passionate about making a difference, Margaret has been dedicating her time to help those in needs. She took part in an international program called “Yoga for the Special Child” and uses her talent and skills to support young children with special needs and orphans who may suffer from health issues.
“Yoga for the Special kids” course is based on a clear, comprehensible and compassionate approach. Amongst others, it is really useful for children with breathing problems. It helps hypertonic children [with extreme muscle tension and abnormal spasms] with their diaphragms and the way their intercostal muscles move.
Margaret gave us some insights about the great work she is doing with kids : “With the children I work with now, it’s all about eye contact, and really just looking at their abilities and not their disabilities” – it sounds clichéd, but it’s not easily done by a lot of people. A lot of more conventional therapies look at what the child cannot do, and they try to fix that. The way “Yoga for the Special Child” approach children is to focus on what they can do, and to let that grow.
